DIMAPUR: The State level Palliative Care Training Programme for nurses and psychiatrists, organised by the National Programme for Palliative Care (NPPC) under the directorate of Health & Family Welfare, Kohima, concluded on June 27.
The three day programme, held from June 25 to 27, aimed at strengthening palliative care services across Nagaland. The valedictory session was chaired by Dr. Imnapokim, Joint Director and State Programme Officer for Palliative Care. Trainers appreciated the active participation and enthusiasm of the trainees, who pledged to apply the knowledge gained in their respective health facilities. Certificates were also distributed to participants.
Technical sessions were conducted by experts including Hanife Macgamwell, honorary head and instructor for ELNEC USA in India; Nileema Sharad Shingade, Senior Nursing Officer, AIIMS New Delhi; Ramswaroop and Arvind Sharma, Senior Nursing Officers, AIIMS Jodhpur; and Sudip Rudra Paul, Nursing Officer, Dr. B. Borooah Cancer Institute. The sessions covered pain management, communication skills, psychosocial support and holistic patient care.
The training programme was described as a significant step towards enhancing the capacity of healthcare professionals in delivering compassionate and comprehensive palliative care services across the state.
