Nagaland Police is conducting operations across all the districts to combat the menace of widespread availability and usage of synthetic drugs, psychotropic substances and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL).
According to a statement issued by Superintendent of Police (SCRB) & PPHQ Nagaland Friday, intensive checking of vehicles (MVCP), raids and checks in hotels, restaurants, etc., were being carried out on a continuous basis to prevent illegal activity.
During the fortnight from September 1, 2023 to October 15, 2023, Police registered 57 cases and arrested 90 persons for various offences. Police also seized 8005 numbers of Spasmo Proxyvon and other tablets; 5778.71grams of brown sugar and crystal meth, 213.53grams Heroin, 1659nos and 199.15litres of IMFL and 19 arms with ammunition.
Police also appealed to general public to provide information on sale/distribution of any form of Narcotics/Drugs/IMFL etc., to the nearest police station or narcotic police station or on ‘Call Your Cop’ mobile App or Madeinagaland platform. Police assured that the identity of informant will be kept confidential.
Meanwhile Eastern Nagaland Sumi Students Union (ENSSU ) extended support to ‘Operation Good Samaritan’ launched by Kiphire police.
“Operation Good Samaritan” aims to mobilise youth volunteers across Kiphire district to conduct “door to door camping” jointly with the Kiphire police and spread awareness against drugs abuse within society.
In a press release, ENSSU Isukha Sumi appealed to sections of youth under Kiphire district especially those who use intoxicants and drugs to take pledge and join the campaign.
Further, ENSSU called upon all the stakeholders under Kiphire district to come together and say “no to drugs” to make Kiphire a “drug-free”, happy and healthier district. ESSU urged the responsible authority in the district to organise awareness campaigns and assured full cooperation towards the campaign.
