Confederation of All Nagaland State Services Employees Association (CANSSEA) including other associations, under the banner of the Core Committee and Action Committee, have announced that their members will wear black ribbons/badges from September 25 onwards as the first phase of protest against the government’s decision to conduct the screening of Non-SCS officers for IAS induction without restoring the advertisement circular dated March 10, 2025.
In a circular jointly issued by core committee secretary, Dr. Ndangkie Ndang; action committee convenor Yhunsenlo Kent; CANSSEA president Zubemo Lotha Tsanglao; FONSESA president, Er. Fineson Pojar; NIDA president Dr. Thomas Keppen; NF&ASA president, Amenla Jamir; and NSSA president Chubasangla Longkumer, they said that despite several representations, the government had shown utter disdain by proceeding with the screening on September 25 without addressing their demand.
Stating that the move amounted to circumventing merit and opening up avenues for officers without a legally tenable mode of recruitment into the IAS, the associations alleged that this would set the course towards a “dangerous and treacherous path.”
Accordingly, members of each association have been directed to compulsorily wear black ribbons/badges during this period of protest, which will be confined to offices within the State capital, Kohima.
Members of unaffiliated associations and offices have also been invited to extend solidarity by participating willingly.
The associations reminded that the black ribbon protest was a symbolic and peaceful display of resentment and urged all members to maintain official protocol, discipline and workplace attendance without resorting to disruption.
The future course of action, they said, would be intimated in due time on the recommendations of the Core Committee and Action Committee.
