State Taxes Dept conducts GST inspection in Dimapur

DIMAPUR: The State Taxes Department, Dimapur Unit carried out a field inspection across various business establishments in Dimapur district from July 13-14, 2026 as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen Goods and Services Tax (GST) compliance, promote awareness among traders and vendors, and verify business activities at the ground level.
According to DIPR report, the inspection was conducted by a team of officers led by the Deputy Commissioner of State Taxes, following authorisation issued by the Office of the Commissioner of State Taxes, Nagaland under Section 67 of the NGST Act, 2017.
During the drive, officials verified issuance of GST bills and invoices by registered vendors, conducted stock verification, reviewed business activities and examined GST registration details to ensure compliance. The team also interacted with business owners to clarify GST related queries and encouraged voluntary tax compliance.
As part of the awareness initiative, officers educated traders and consumers on the importance of issuing and obtaining proper GST invoices, emphasising that GST bills ensure transparency, curb tax evasion and contribute to the State’s development.
According to the department, while a majority of registered taxpayers inspected were found to be complying with GST provisions, certain discrepancies were detected in some establishments. These cases will be examined further in accordance with the NGST Act.
The department appealed to all business establishments to issue GST invoices for every taxable supply and maintain proper books of accounts. It also urged consumers to insist on GST bills for every purchase.
It reiterated that such field inspections and awareness drives will continue regularly to promote a fair, transparent and compliant tax environment across Nagaland.
