Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has informed that Nagaland would experience light rainfall and cloudy moderate rain in almost all the districts till March 25, 2025.
In a press release, commissioner & secretary Lhouchalie Viya informed that during this period, thunderstorm with lightning was expected in the districts of Chumoukedima, Dimapur, Kiphire, Kohima, Mon, Peren, Phek and Tuensang.
NSDMA also stated that light moderate was expected in the districts of Longleng, Mokokchung, Noklak, Shamatore, Tseminyu and Zunheboto. As a result, NSDMA has stressed the need to take the necessary measures including avoiding lightning strikes and high winds, which could disrupt communication and connectivity.
Due to the risk of high precipitation in the hill sector, NSDMA said Nagaland’s lowland and foothill districts, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumoukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, were vulnerable to inundated waterlogging and flash floods.
NSDMA has, therefore, urged the public to exercise caution to avoid any eventualities during this period. NSDMA also requested all the district disaster management authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
