Along with 172 Countries around the world, Nagaland would also be marking the Earth Hour on March 19. Department of power has requested the citizens of Nagaland to take part in the Earth Hour by switching off non-essential lights in residences and prominent buildings between 8.30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
In a press release, chief engineer (T&G), department of power, Er. K. Miachieo said in support of Central Government’s pledge to mitigate emissions, Earth Hour 2016 is calling on citizens to switch off non-essential lights and learn more about rooftop solar systems.
Earth Hour is World Wide Fund (WWF) for Nature’s global initiative and the world’s largest grassroots movement for the environment where citizens around the world unite to take a stand against climate change by turning off non-essential lights for one hour.
