State wide mass social under Swachh Bharat Week that commenced from September 29, had culminated across the state on October 2.
31 AC Akuluto: Led by advisor for Skill Development, Labour & Employment and CAWD , Kazheto Kinimi along with civil administration, 31 AC Akuluto BJP party workers and civil societies observed a one-day cleanliness drive under “swachhta hi seva” on October 1 at Akuluto town. In a press release by the advisor’s media cell, a short programme was conducted wherein the advisor spoke on the need to maintain clean environment within the town. He also stressed on the need to make cleanliness a way of life. Later the advisor along with Akuluto Town Committee members, civil administration and public leaders inspected the proposed dumping site.
Peren: In Peren district the programme was jointly organized by the district administration, NERLP & Peren Town Committee.
ADC, Chubawati Chang expressed his gratitude to all the wards/colonies for the success of social work. He congratulated Keletzai ward Peren for winning the cleanest award and expressed his appreciation to Keletzai Ward Woman Organization (KWWO) for their contribution and initiatives towards the cleanliness of the wards. ADC also administered pledge for non-violence and peace.
Tuensang: DC Tuensang, L. Jamithung Lotha conducted the culmination programme for the three-day mass social work at DC’s office complex Tuensang on October 2.
DC also initiated the pledged for Non -Violence and peace to mark the occasion of the “International Day of Non-Violence”.
Mokokchung: Swachh Bharat “One step towards cleanliness” programme which was successfully carried out in Mokokchung district from September 29 and culminated with a programme held at Town Hall on October 2.
Minister for PWD, Tongpang Ozukum addressing the gathering as special guest shared his appreciation to one and all involved in this special cleanliness programme. He also added that this is just the beginning and the government is planning to come out with more intensive cleanliness activities.
Mon: Culmination programme of the mass social work was held at Mon on October 2 at the council hall. DC Mon, Thavaseelan K, appreciated and congratulated the participants of mass social work on the occasion.
The programme was chaired by EAC Mon HQ, Avonuo Kire, keynote address by administrator Mon Town Council (MTC), Kumar Ramnikant, short speeches were delivered by various head of offices, ward presidents and NGOs. Winner of Personality, Face of Nagaland, M. Lemwang Konyak also took part in the programme, while EAC probationer, Ihoilung Chuilo, delivered the vote of thanks.
Zunheboto: As part of the state-wide mass social work which started on September 29 concluded on October 2. Government offices in Zunheboto participated in the mass social work by cleaning up their office premises on October 2.
Chen: Chen town conducted the mass social work from September 29 till October 2 under the initiative of SDO (C) Chen, T. Moa Lemtor and all the heads of offices. All the government employees, GBs, DBs and denizens participated in the mass social work.
Pfutsero: The four day Pfutsero sub-division mass social work which started on September 29 culminated on October 2. The culmination of the Swachh Bharat social work was conducted along the NEC road (Viswema –Kidima- Zuketsa road) and the team was led by SDO (Civil) Pfutsero, Diana Patton and EE (PWD) Pfutsero.
Naginimora Town: Naginimora sub-division of Mon district organised a one day mass social work, cleanliness drive on October 2.
All the staff from various departments cleaned up their surroundings, drainage and toilets. PWD department voluntarily helped in levelling the roads by providing staff and JCB.
The general public including public leaders, GBs, DBs, KNSK, KNSU and KU participated in the social work by cleaning up all wastes and garbages dumped along the roadside, drainage in and around the town area and also in their own wards.
Hoshepu: With the rest of the administrative headquarters in the state, a mass social work was conducted on October 1 at Hoshepu EAC head quarter, led by ADC Aghunato, T. Nchumbemo Udyuo and NTC president, Toniho Yeptho. During the programme, GBs, council members and the volunteers numbering at least 150 people took part in the activities. In Asuto EAC headquarter, the social was carried out on October 29, headed by EAC Aghunato, Saratho Katiry. The social work saw good participation from the public of Asuto.
DBSU: Dimapur Bengali Students Union (DBSU) organised a mass social work at NST Bus Stand and Railway Station at Dimapur on October 2 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.
Hundreds of students and senior members of DBSU participated in the event led by DBSU president Shubham Nath and general secretary Rajat Ghosh, in collaboration with Swachh Bharat district ambassador Geoffrey Yaden and other members– Bendangtila, Bishnu Bhattacharjee and K.K Paul Advisor of DBSU.

NSS, ZPC: NSS, Zisaji Presidency College (ZPC) Kiphire conducted cleanliness drive in and around Kiphire town on October 2.The team was led by assistant professor ZPC. (NP)
ASTD: The Ao community of Dimapur under the banner of the Ao Senso Telongjem Dimapur (ASTD) organised a voluntary clean up exercise at the Ao Senden Riju, Purana Bazaar on October 2.
The Dimapur Watsü Telongjem, Dimapur Ao Lanur Telongjem, Ao students Union Dimapur and executives of the six federating (range) units volunteered for the cleanliness drive.
