Nagaland successfully undertook a coordinated state wide mass social work on
April 21.
Mokokchung: A mass social in and around Mokokchung town saw participation of the general public of all the 18 wards and employees of government and semi government offices under the supervision of district administration and Mokokchung Municipal Council.
Chairman and GBs of all the wards in the town supervised the work for cleaning the drainage, street and public places by setting the time as per their convenience.
In all the government offices, heads of offices along with their respective staff cleaned up their office premises after which all the government employees moved to those areas allocated to each department.
Apart from cleaning the office premises and respective wards, mass social work was conducted in six locations namely Sewak Gate, Hospital Area/ Parking lot, MMC Shopping Complex, Police point, Old Town Hall Vegetable Market and Salangtem New Market.
Zunheboto: As part of the state-wide mass social work, the Zunheboto District Disaster Management carried out a voluntary mass social work in all wards and villages under Zunheboto district. District administration has expressed appreciation to the departments for cooperation and extending logistics support. The departments that extend support include Superintendent of Police (two trucks), 5 Assam Rifles (one backhoe loader and one dumper), 8 NAP (two trucks), EE PWD, road & bridges (one backhoe loader), ZTC (one dumper and 1 one pickup truck), SDO Mechanical (one backhoe loader), EE Electrical (one mini truck) and DSCO (one pickup truck).
Meanwhile, district administration also expressed gratitude to HoDs, GBs, ZRSU representatives, ZCCI and all the citizens for extending cooperation.
Longleng: Despite inclement weather, the citizens of Longleng participated in the mass social work along with the rest of the districts on Saturday. The social work, which began at 6am, was conducted under the supervision of the district administration, government officials, NGOs, educational institutions, ward leaders, business community and chamber of commerce. Besides district headquarters, mass social work was also conducted in all the sub-divisions of the district.
Peren: As part of the cleanliness drive, the district administration organised mass social work across the district on Saturday. In the district headquarters, all district heads of offices cleaned up their respective office premises. PHED volunteered and offered light refreshment to all the participants after the mass social work.
At Peren town, all the ward chairmen and GBs mobilised mass social work in their respective wards and colonies by clearing shrubs and drainages, which began at 6am. The social work was supervised by Chubawati Chang, ADC Peren and assisted by additional SP and SDO PWD (R&B) Peren respectively. Mass social work was also conducted successfully at Jalukie, Tening and Ahthibung, with respective administrative heads supervising the social work. Villages across the district also successfully conducted mass social work.
Phek: Mass social work was held in and around Phek town on Saturday with employees of the government, semi government and the public of the Phek Town taking part in the drive
The deputy commissioner (DC) Phek expressed gratitude to the departments and the public of Phek town for successful conduct of the mass social work.
Wokha: Along with the rest of the state, Wokha district also conducted mass social work in all the colonies, wards and government offices on Saturday. The social work was carried out under the supervision of the district administration led by deputy commissioner (DC) Wokha, Dr.Manazir Jeelani Samoon. DC visited almost all the colonies, wards and government offices and monitored the work. Dr.Jeelani also thanked all the colony /ward chairmen, government employees and general public for their active participation in making the social work a grand success.
Pughoboto: As directed by the government, the citizens of Pughoboto joined the rest of the state in undertaking mass social work on Saturday.
The cleanliness drive was supervised and monitored by the administrators, GBs of the respective colonies of Pughoboto. The government employees also carried out the drive effectively in their offices and surroundings. The participants cleared the clogged drains and also picked empty bottles, polythene bags etc besides removing thick weeds. Footpaths and streets were cleaned by the Jawans, members of ad hoc town council and others.
