Mokokchung-based five-piece band Stereo Groove released their latest single music video titled “ASCEND” at a launch event held at Urban Hub Cafe, Mokokchung, on June 15. The music video was officially launched by MMC councillor Imkumniba Kichu.
Blending alternative rock elements, “ASCEND” is now available on all major digital streaming platforms, while the official music video can be viewed on Stereo Groove’s YouTube channel.
The band comprises Along Jamir (vocals), Wapang Walling (guitar), Ayoung Jamir (guitar), Wabang Jamir (bass), and Lima Imsong (drums).
Addressing the gathering, Imkumniba Kichu lauded the band’s achievement and noted that young talents in Mokokchung continue to pursue their dreams despite limited government and institutional support.
“Every achievement begins as an idea, which then transforms into creativity, fueled by passion, and ultimately becomes success,” he said.
Kichu described the occasion as more than just a music video launch, calling it the realization of a long-cherished dream. He also highlighted music’s role as a universal language that transcends borders and inspires young minds.
Encouraging aspiring musicians to pursue originality, he stressed that artists who create and compose their own music stand on a higher level than those who only perform cover songs. He further cautioned young artists against the dangers of sudden popularity and substance abuse, urging musicians and their families to remain grounded while pursuing success.
Speaking about the song, the band said, “ASCEND is more than just a song. It is a story carved out of pressure, doubt, and the quiet battles we don’t always talk about. Every note and every word come from a deeply personal place.”
The track explores themes of resilience and overcoming life’s challenges, reflecting the band’s own journey of struggle and growth. Through the song, Stereo Groove hopes listeners will not only enjoy the music but also embrace its message of perseverance and hope that no matter how low one falls, it is always possible to rise again.
