STINER-TFC SASRD organises training

One day hands on training on “vermi-composting and smoke-free drying of Naga king chilli” was organised by Science and Technology Intervention for North East Region (STINER-TFC) School of Agricultural Sciences and Rural Development (SASRD): Nagaland University (NU) Medziphema campus on September 28 at Technology Demonstration Unit.

A press release by STINER-TFC, SASRD: NU stated that the training was organised under the initiative of dean SASRD and project in-charge, STINER-TFC, professor, Akali Sema. 
STINER-TFC stated that creating entrepreneurial mindset and encouraging skill development was the major mandate of centre and that the training was aimed at sensitizing locals on various revenue generating activities. 
Professor Sema emphasised on the importance of developing new skills and turning them into self-sustaining business and how the centre could help in bringing in and introducing such relevant technologies for benefit of the people. 
Speaking on smoke free drying of Naga king chilli, project assistant, STINER-TFC, Rokosieno Zao encouraged participants to identify available resources, especially mentioning king chilli and to convert it into income generating avenue. 
Project Assistant, STINER-TFC, Bikram Ghimere spoke on the importance and scope of vermi-composting which was a conversion of waste to wealth and low-cost technology, ensuring good economic return.
