Storm damages major power feeders in Kohima

Damages caused by storm on May 28

The heavy storm and rain on Tuesday caused massive damage to high tension (HT) and low tension (LT) power lines at Tseminyu and Ghathashi in Zunheboto district, affecting the feeders of 33Kv ITI, 33Kv Ringmain-2, 33Kv Chakhabama, 33Kv Lalmati, 11Kv Ministers’ Hill, 11Kv Paramedical, 11Kv Jakhama Civil, 11Kv Jakhama Army, 11Kv Science College Jotsoma, 11Kv Zubza, 11Kv TV Centre Jotsoma, 11Kv Khuzama, 11Kv Kigwema, 11 KvSendenyu, 11 KvThizama and other LT feeders.


Executive engineer electrical division Kohima Er. Shiludi Longkumer informed the public that some HT and LT lines had been restored, while department was carrying out restoration work round the clock on a war footing with limited manpower to restore other lines for smooth flow of power supply in the affected areas. Hence, he urged the public and consumers to cooperate and bear with the inconveniences.


Major landslide cleared in Sanis sub-division: A major road blockage caused by persistent landslides at Sanis Sub-division in Wokha district has been cleared by a road maintenance team on May 29.
According to the DIPR, the landslide, which covered an area about 1 km from Sanis Zero Point towards Baghty town, was initially cleared the day before but became blocked again due to fresh slides during the night.


Public commuters and transportation activities within the local areas, other districts, and from other states were stranded until the road was cleared. Two excavators (JCBs) from both Sanis and Baghty were deployed for the clearance operation amidst continuing rain.
