Nagaland Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (NSSATA) Kohima unit has appealed to the authorities to expedite the streamlining of SSA 2010 and 2013 batches and put an end to the “inhuman treatment meted out to us so far”. A press release by Kohima Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan Teachers’ Association (KSSATA) president, Thejangulie Kirha and general secretary Melhouvonuo expressed dismay at the indifferent attitude of the government and the Education department towards the sufferings of the SSA 2010 and 2013 batches. Stating that the SSA teachers were assured regular disbursement of salary along with streamlining into the state cadre, it said that despite repeated appeals there had hardly been any changes so far. Acknowledging the efforts of the government and department for having started the streamlining process, the KSSATA added that the pace was rather slow and needed some “definite kicking”. Pointing out that the teachers have not been paid their dues for September to December, 2018, it stated that “with the arrival of the New Year, we’re now faced with yet another dilemma, the problem of meeting the expenditure to our own respective posting places, when we can barely afford a square meal per day”. KSSATA has therefore earnestly appealed to the concerned authorities to prioritise the issue and do the needful at the earliest.
