Street vendors trained on ‘project serve safe food’

A five-day training on street food vendors under “Project Serve Safe Food” organised by National Association Street Vendors of India (NASVI) and supported by Nestle India Limited and Food Safety Authority Nagaland concluded on September 20 at Tourist Lodge Dimapur.


A total of 360 street food vendors were trained in batch wise. Food Safety & Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) empanelled partner from NASVI Ajit Kumar from Delhi was the trainer.
At the training, personal hygiene of the owner and staff, work place hygiene in making and serving food to customers, use of potable water for making food, use of food grade materials for packaging and discouraged use of newspapers and class-note books for wrapping food items, waste management, proper dress code etc were disseminated to the vendors.


After each training session, the participants were made to take a pledge, to abide by the rules of food safety in their premise. The vendors were also directed to get registered under FSSAI from the office of the CMO Dimapur at the earliest. They were also given free hygiene kits and Food Safety Display Board along with participation certificate & Food Safety Training & Certification (FoSTaC).
