Dimapur city wore a deserted look after 2pm on Tuesday after strict enforcement of the lockdown guidelines by the police in coordination with the District administration.
According to a DIPR report, almost all the business establishments downed their shutters by 2 pm and a very few pedestrian movements were noticed. The district task force (DTF) Dimapur at a meeting held on July 20, 2020 agreed for more stringent implementation of lockdown rules in view of the current COVID-19 pandemic.
Accordingly, as directed by the commissioner of police (CP) Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo, traffic barricades were installed at major traffic intersections after 2 pm at Clock Tower junction, NL Road, Dhobinala, Nagarjan point and Veterinary point. CP had stated that unnecessary movement except those under the exempted category would not be allowed after 2 pm and cautioned that violators would be penalised.
Meanwhile, DC Dimapur, Anoop Kinchi, also warned that public movement would not be allowed after 2 pm and cautioned that defaulters would be punished under Disaster Management Act 2005. DC further directed the shopkeepers to strictly maintain the timing for opening and closing of their shops as per laid down guideline.
Dimapur district administration and police have sought public cooperation to fight the pandemic.
