STSU appeals for quality workmanship of black topping at Shamator town

The Shamator Town Students Union (STSU) has expressed disappointment at the on-going black topping of road at Shamator town.  According to a  press release issued by STSU  president Thsanthong  and general secretary Dopong  stated that,  the inability  of the general public  to acclaim  the said work had compelled  the union  to visit the  “men at work” on December 16 where “instantaneous  and randomness” of the work were brought  to the knowledge of the union and also found that non engagement  of engineers  and deployment of labour force  at the site.
The STSU further alleged  that slow setting (ground),  rapid setting (stonemix),  and melt setting ( sand mix)  were also not followed  in correct proportion as  the workers  have refrained away from  following certain  guidelines /norms  of the work. In the light of the above circumstances,  the Shamator Town Students Union  appealed  the responsible authority/department  to allocate  financial assistance before completion of the  said work  from  any of the Urban Developmental Agencies  so that  the  roads which  are not under the purview  of the on-going work  could be  put into thorough repair  of black topping  without further delay. STSU expressed gratitude to parliamentary secretary Municipal Affairs, Economic & Statistic Nagaland,  R. Tohanba  for his valuable contribution  towards  the  community  by  initiating and carrying  the much needed  black topping  of road  at Shamator town.
The on-going black topping is from the guest house to ADC office complex via police point and from lower police point to15th Assam Rifle gate via town church.   The union  further  highlighted  that the  first ever  black topping  of road  at Shamator was executed  during  1990s and during  the last few decades, no such works were carried out which had left the road in a miserable state.
The road between the town and NH-202 was also left in pathetic state where every monsoon, this road remains badly broken up by heavy rains posing dangerous for motors and carriages to pass through and needs immediate remedial measures.
The  road from ADC office to3rd NAP Shamator  via St. Xavier  school  too remains almost impassable during  every rainy seasons, which adversely  affect especially  the  school  going  children, the STSU stated.
