Student drowns in Duilum-roi river

In a delayed report, a fourth semester civil engineering student of Government Polytechnic Kohima, reportedly drowned in Duilium-roi river, at Poilwa village under Peren district on April 15.
When contacted, Addl SP Peren, RT Chang confirmed about the incident and informed that the body of the deceased was retrieved with the help of Heunambe Village Youth Organisation, Poilwa Namci Youth Organization, Dzüleke Youth Organization and other volunteers. The body was later handed over to family members. He said that the incident took place at around 3:45 p.m. on Saturday when the deceased person along with his classmates had gone for a picnic. It took around four hours to retrieve the body, the official said.
PVC: Poilwa Village Council expressed pain and condoled the bereaved family over the unfortunate incident. As the area is often visited by local tourists, PVC chairman Rangsam N Hau said they received information that the student, who was on an annual picnic with his friends, had slipped into the Duilum-roi river and drowned on April 15 afternoon.
