Students are the driving force of progress: Zeliang

DIMAPUR

Mbaupungwa Lui Student’s Union celebrated its golden jubilee on Friday at Mbaupungwa village under Tening sub-division with deputy chief minister, T.R.Zeliang as chief host, deputy commissioner, Peren Hiazu Meru as special guest and DIPR joint director Igwanglia Simon Teilia as guest of honour.
A press release by the media cell of the deputy chief minister stated that, speaking on the occasion, T.R.Zeliang extended warm greetings and heartfelt congratulations to the Mbaupungwa Lui Students’ Union on the momentous occasion of its golden jubilee, marking 50 years of dedicated service to the student community.
The deputy chief minister lauded the MLSU for its enduring contribution to nurturing leadership and championing the rights and aspirations of students over the past five decades.
Zeliang also said that golden jubilee is not merely a celebration of longevity but a tribute to generations of young leaders who have upheld democratic values, inclusivity and social responsibility. Highlighting the role of youth in society building, T.R.Zeliang emphasized that students are the driving force of progress and innovation.
He also said backwardness is not by choice but situation and urged the students to dream big, set target, and do away with dependent mindset but strive to translate their dreams into reality. He also encouraged the Union to continue serving as constructive platform for dialogue, creativity and positive development.
The occasion was also marked by cultural extravaganzas and other literary activities.
