
Students of Nagaland was encouraged to take interest in science, come out with innovative ideas and invent something for the society.
This was said by additional director directorate of school education, Pollen Tep during “Science Awareness Mela” organized by Uzho Cultural Society sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology, government of India at Kitsubozou Panchayat hall Kohima, Saturday.
Lamenting that Naga society focus more on social activities, Tep said Nagas have failed to emphasize seriously on science subject and reminded the students that in the present age, life cannot progress without science and technology.
Also encouraging students to be sincere and hardworking, he reminded the students that to be successful one has to work persistently with constancy and sincerity. He lamented that many Naga people remain ideal and never dare to work hard to achieve greater things.
Meanwhile, in the science quiz competition, Lipokla Longchar of Christian Children School Kohima bagged the first prize and walked home with Rs. 5,000 and citation and the second prize was bagged by Vezokholu Rhakho of Oking Christian School Kohima and fetched Rs. 3,000 and citation. Altogether 15 schools from Kohima participated in the programme.
The programme was chaired by CC school Kohima Aziebu headmaster, innovation prayer was said by Sarhiinyi Shupao, welcome address was delivered by Uzho Cultural Society president Vezokho Chotso and special song was presented by Lila and friends.
