In a continued effort to serve and inspire the people of Nagaland, Assam Rifles organized a dual initiative marked by community development and humanitarian assistance.
On July 24, the paramilitary force hosted ‘A Day with Company Commander’ at its base in Peren district, under the theme, “Engagement and Entertainment with Young Minds”. The event welcomed students from LM High School, Government High School Mahainamsti, and Assam Rifles School for a day designed to foster leadership, discipline, teamwork and patriotism. Through interactive sessions and games, the programme broadened perspectives and strengthened bonds between youth and uniformed service. A total of 65 students and 12 accompanying teachers participated in the enriching experience. Educators and students expressed sincere gratitude, highlighting the event’s positive impact on personal growth and civic awareness.
In a separate act of compassion, Assam Rifles personnel came to the aid of a 30-year-old farmer, Vejusa Katiry, from Meluri village, who was in critical condition at District Hospital Phek following a miscarriage. Suffering from severely low haemoglobin levels, Katiry required an urgent blood transfusion. Responding swiftly, Assam Rifles volunteers donated blood, stabilizing her condition and providing relief to her family. Medical staff acknowledged the gesture with heartfelt appreciation, noting it as a reflection of the force’s unwavering dedication to public service.
Assam Rifles reiterated its commitment to nurturing responsible citizenship and providing timely aid to those in need, reinforcing its integral role within the socio-cultural fabric of Nagaland.
