Students of SD Jain HSS showcase innovation

SD Jain Higher Secondary School, Dimapur, hosted a science exhibition on Friday at the school auditorium, focusing on the theme “Inspiring Young Minds through Scientific Approach.” The event was inaugurated by Jain Samaj President, Anilji Sethi, along with secretary of the School Managing Committee, Arunji Kr. Sethi, and Jain Samaj secretary, Bhagchandji Bilala.
Students from various classes were divided into five categories, each dedicated to a specific sub-theme. Participants from Classes 6 and 7 explored the “Foundation of Scientific Thinking,” while Class 8 students focused on “Understanding the Human Body.” Class 9 students showcased projects under the theme “Science in Everyday Life – Exploring Practical Applications,” and Class 10 students addressed “Science for Sustainable Living and Environmental Awareness.” The final category comprised Class 12 students alongside participants from the Commerce and Arts streams, working on “Innovation for a Sustainable Tomorrow.”
The exhibition featured a panel of judges from M.G.M. Higher Secondary School, with PGT Renji Thomas and PGT Sentinaro evaluating the projects. Among the winning projects, Group 9 from Category 1 secured the top position with their model on “Wind Energy”, followed by Group 3 with “Windmill” and Group 8 with a “Working Model of a Cooler”. In Category 2, the first prize was awarded to Group 2 for their “Human Excretory System” model, with Group 7 and Group 4 taking second and third place, respectively, for their models on the “Lungs and Respiratory System” and “Human Digestive System”.
The “Automatic Door Lock” project by Group 9 won first prize in Category 3, while Group 3’s “River Cleaner” and Groups 2 and 7’s “Rainwater Harvesting” model secured second and third place, respectively. In Category 4, Group 2 emerged as the winner with their “Hydraulic Lift Machine”, followed by Group 1’s “Working Model of Biogas” and Group 3’s “Human Activity and Its Impact on the Ecosystem”.
The final category saw Group 6 claimed the top spot with their “Integrated Disaster Management System” project, while Group 2 and Group 1 secured second and third place with their projects on “Hydrogen Fuel Cell and Renewable Energy” and “Vertical Farming and Hydroponics”. A total of 230 students showcased 40 different models at the exhibition.
