Chief Information Commissioner (CIC), Government of Nagaland, I Meyionen Jamir has said that students need to inspect and evaluate their own performance in view of the increasing unemployment rate in the state.
The CIC, who is also the treasurer of Mongsenyimti Students’ Unit Kohima (MSUK) said this at the one-day seminar organised by the MSUK under the theme Addressing the seminar, which included students pursuing their academic degree and educated unemployed youths, Jamir encouraged the MSUK to strategically conduct follow ups with all the participants in order to achieve the goals of the seminar.
Resource person of the seminar, founding CEO of Entrepreneurs Associates and its Group of Social Ventures, Neichute Doulo, who spoke on the topic “Pursuit of self reliance and Entrepreneurship”, explained that self-reliance capacity was poor amongst many Government employees and that relying on Government had to be stopped.
He cited an example where only 3% of the employable category falls under the Government sector in the country; while it was 12.5% in Nagaland.
He urged the gathering to have self-confidence and take pride in the dignity of labour. In conclusion, he encouraged the gathering to become models of entrepreneurs and business men and women in order to generate jobs and help solve the unemployment issue in the state.
Sub Divisional Officer (Civil) Mokokchung and author, Sentilong Ozukum was also one of the resource person, who spoke on the topic “Plan, Pray, Progress”. He articulated the various plans one must consider while choosing a career and shared three keys to survival- Keep Educating, Keep Evolving and Keep Enlarging yourself.
The concluding remark was delivered by Er. Subongyanger Aier, Executive Engineer, PHED, Kohima Urban Division and committee convenor of the seminar.
