Student community was called upon to make a difference and be the “pathfinder” by contributing something positive to the society by Nagaland home commissioner Neihu C. Thur IAS, Tuesday.
Speaking as the chief guest at Kohima College Kohima 49th parting social, Thur encouraged the students to work hard as they are the threshold of the “new horizon” reminding them that their present activities would determine their future.
Even after 62 years of attaining statehood, the home commissioner lamented that Nagaland has not been able to sustain itself as most of the funds were used to pay the salaries of 1.4 lakh government employees. In this regard, he challenged the younger generations to think out and make a difference in the state.
Thur also encouraged students to acquire quality education with sincerity and asked them to possess an attractive personality.
Kohima College Kohima principal Dr. Watijunshi Jamir in his welcome address reminded the students’ community that they have to face many challenges ahead and asked them to face it with God by their side.
The function was chaired by Imtisenla Longkumer, special song was presented by Thenon Konyak winner of Naga Orpheus Hunt 2015, annual report was presented by Kohima College Kohima general secretary N. Lhepong Konyak, speech on behalf of senior and remaining students by Asenuo Tehruja and Vimeyiekho Vitso respectively, special song for the outgoing students was presented by Aien and Medo, prayer for the outgoing students was led by Cross Wonder Church Kohima Sr. Pastor Rev. Ketouzo Theünuo while vote of thanks was said by assistant general secretary Chimongthü.
The award for achievers of the Kohima College (2015-16) and student of the year were bagged by Asenuo Tehruja and Ralü (6th sem.) respectively.
