STYO launches ‘I Love Satakha’ landmark project

DIMAPUR: Satakha Town Youth Organisation (STYO) officially unveiled the “I Love Satakha” landmark along National Highway 702A at Satakha on May 19 as part of its town beautification initiative.
The landmark was installed on land donated by the children and family of late Hoshivi Tuccu Yepthomi of Satakha Village. The dedication ceremony was attended by local leaders, Gaon Buras, councillors of the Satakha Town Council, community members, and invited guests, including personal assistants to ministers.
Personal secretary to the Minister for Roads and Bridges, Nagaland, Aronto Y. Jimo, inaugurated the landmark as the chief guest. Pastor Vitoka Zhimo of Satakha Town Baptist Church, Aizuto, offered a special prayer dedicating the installation.
Addressing the gathering, Aronto Y. Jimo conveyed greetings from the Office of the Minister for Roads and Bridges and praised STYO for marking what he described as a historic milestone for the community. He commended the organisation for transforming community pride into meaningful action and encouraged the people of Satakha to continue promoting unity and progress through collective efforts.
“We must improve our quality of life through active participation, sacrifice of time and energy, and by working together,” he said, while also highlighting Satakha’s legacy of producing prominent leaders.
Jimo further urged residents to become ambassadors of peace, unity, and reconciliation, and lauded G. Kaito Aye, Minister for Roads and Bridges, for his continued efforts toward the development of Satakha and the welfare of the Naga people.
Highlighting recent infrastructure developments, he called on the community to take ownership of government-initiated projects and ensure public assets are protected and properly utilised.
STYO president Ikupu Tuccu recalled that the organisation was formed in 2017 and said the landmark installation was among its major initiatives. He urged the community to take collective responsibility for local development instead of depending solely on government support.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Satakha, Chumlamo Humtsoe, appreciated STYO for mobilising voluntary funding and community participation for the project. He also encouraged the community to work towards making Satakha a plastics-free zone. Deputy chairperson Veto V. Zhimomi thanked STYO for its efforts in beautifying the town and encouraged continued community-driven initiatives for public welfare.
The programme was compered by Wilka Zhimo and Onitoli Swu. Invocation was pronounced by Kinovi Z. Zhimo, APY STBC, while Mutavi V. Zhimomi, General Secretary of STYO, delivered the vote of thanks. The benediction was pronounced by Hetoka APY, UBC Satakha.
