SUAT launches ‘Clean Akuluto Campaign’

On the theme “rediscovering civic sense”, the Students’ Union Akuluto Town (SUAT) launched “Clean Akuluto Campaign’ January 27
As part of the campaign, clean drive was carried out in Akuluto town by as many as 70 students as volunteers. They carried out the drive by picking waste papers and materials around the town. The student volunteers also cleaned hospital, offices and town hall.
The campaign, under the leadership of SUAT president Bovika Chishi, was launched by SDO (C) Akuluto Kikumsangla Jamir. Launching programme was moderated by campaign convener Vika I Chishi and Kaheli Chophy, Miss Nagaland 2014 Runner Up as the ambassador of the campaign.
The launching programme was attended by public leaders and GBs.
In her speech, campaign ambassador urged the citizens be responsible towards the cleanliness of the town. She also asked the shopkeepers to keep their surroundings clean so as to promote civic sense.
Campaign convener also asked the citizens and students in particular to be responsible towards cleanliness all the time.
As part of the campaign, the SUAT president and the team comprising of convener, ambassador and the general secretary inspected the government offices to spread awareness and also to check the functioning of offices.
During the inspection, the forest department extended support towards the campaign and decided to conduct World Environment Day in collaboration with the SUAT.
SUAT president said during the office inspection some of the offices in Akuluto were not at all functioning. He asked the officers in charge to look into the matter as soon as possible to ensure development and cleanliness of the town.
According to SUAT, the campaign would be carried out through its tenure and would urge the next tenure team to carry out the same.
In his speech, SUAT president expressed gratitude to the students and citizens for extending support towards the campaign. Rural development department and urban station committee Akuluto have also extended support towards the cause.
