District Health Society Tuensang launched the Surakshit Matritva Aashwasan (SUMAN) initiative at the Chief Medical Officer’s Office, Tuensang, on April 15.
Delivering the keynote, Dr. Waulong Phom, DPO (RCH & UIP), highlighted the objectives of SUMAN, the service guarantee charter, entitlements under the initiative, and the roles and responsibilities of SUMAN volunteers. He also elaborated on high-risk pregnancy (HRP) codes under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) format, HRP registers, reporting for incentives, HMIS reporting, and extended PMSMA (ePMSMA) for tracking and reporting HRP cases.
District Community Mobilizer, Putusola, took a session on challenges in Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day (VHSND), covering its four components—health, nutrition, sanitation, and early childhood development. She emphasized that quality VHSND depends on effective functioning of VHSNCs, convergence with government departments, civil society and faith-based organizations, and proper record-keeping. She also stressed the role of self-help groups under NSRLM in VHSNC and VHSND meetings.
The programme was attended by DPO (RCH & UIP), District Community Mobilizer, GNMs, ANMs, and IEC staff.
