The newly renovated Sumi Aphuyemi Rest House at Zunheboto district headquarters was inaugurated by Dr. Sükhato A. Sema, MLA, on June 13. According to DIPR report, the event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Zunheboto, Dharam Raj, officials, and Sumi community leaders.
In his inaugural address, Dr. Sükhato thanked all 24 Sumi Aphuyemi villages, whose “One Day Wage Collection” helped fund the renovation. He also acknowledged past MLAs for laying the groundwork for this achievement.
He also shared his vision for Pughoboto, focusing on better connectivity, healthcare, and education. He therefore urged the community to support government initiatives to improve development in the region.
Deputy Commissioner Dharam Raj, praised Dr. Sükhato’s leadership and stressed the importance of maintaining the building. He urged authorities to take responsibility for its upkeep. Akükau Hetoho Zhimomi, president of Sumi Kukami Hoho, called the project an inspiring example of unity for the district. The program ended with a vote of thanks by Obed Achumi, BDO of Ghathashi R.D Block, followed by a prayer and benediction led by Chaplain Nitoyi Achumi.
Earlier, the ceremony began with the unveiling of a commemorative plaque by Dr. Sükhato and the program was led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Pughoboto, Tiameren Chang.
