
Sumi Hoho (SH) organised “Sumi Martyrs’ day” and Sumi solidarity concert at “Sumi Martyrs’ Park” Sukhalu village on Tuesday.
Speaking at the programme, SH president Nikheto Jimomi said that the Sumi community valued women and harassing them was not tolerated.
He said that while fighting for the rights of women, Ninoto, Ghukiye and Paketo were killed and to commemorate their bravery, the day was being observed.
He recalled the incident which occurred in 2013 and said that this was the 7th “Sumi Martyrs’ Day”.
Earlier the programme was chaired by SH general secretary Dr. Vihuto Asumi, ZTSBC pastor Rev Dr. Daniel Chishi said a prayer while the concert was chaired by SH vice president Zhevihe Sumi and prayer was said by SBCZ pastor Dr. Hutton Sumi.
The concert featured Yeshika Asumi, Abel Tolivi Asumi, Kivika Achumi, Nity Awomi from Satakha, Vinoka Zhimo from Mokokchung and Mughato H. Achumi and Niphuka N. Chishi from Zunheboto.
Various organisations including the Sumi Kukami Hoho (SKH), Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (SKK), Sumi Totimi Hoho (STH), Zunheboto Chambers of Commerce & Industries (ZCCI), Zunheboto Area Public Organisation (ZAPO), Zunheboto GB Association (ZGBA), Satakha GB Association (SGBA) and Sumi Totimi Hoho Zunheboto unit attended the programme.
