Sumi Kukami Hoho helds it’s general session at Town Hall Zunheboto on November 29.
DIPR reports that advisor for School Education, K.T Sukhalu was the guest speaker planned for the event, but due to official engagements he was unable to attend. ADC Zunheboto, Vekhoyi read out the advisor’s speech on his behalf.
In the speech read by the ADC, Sukhalu stated that Gaon Buras (GBs) were introduced by the Britishers for the purpose of village administration. GBs serve as agents to represent their own villages and assist the government in law and order within their jurisdictions, he said. Sukhalu further expressed the opinion that today the responsibilities of GBs go beyond their respective villages, and so they should assist the administration and the government in every way.
ADC Zunheboto, adding to the speech of the advisor, said that it was an honour to be speaking to the gathering of the GBs and said that they were the backbone of the district administration. He thanked the GB’s of Zunheboto district on behalf of the administration for their services, adding that without the support of the GBs, the administration could not function.
During the session, a new team of Sumi Kukami Hoho were elected for the tenure 2018 to 2023, with H. Kashito Yepthomi as president, Khekato Chishi as vice president, Vikato S. Yeptho as general secretary, and Nihovi Chophy as vice president.
