Sumi Patriots Day observed at Satakha

Sümi Hoho observed Sümi Patriots Day on August 4 at the patriots monolith at Satakha town on August 4.


The day was observed to honour late general Kaito Sukhai and late Kughato Sukhai, who sacrificed fighting for the better cause of the Nagas. Media coordinator of Sumi Hoho informed that the event witnessed participation of leaders from various Sümi frontal organizations as well as members of the general public. Guest speaker, Dr. Hokishe Yepthomi, former president of the Sümi Hoho, spoke about the Sümis’ involvement in the Naga freedom struggle and also highlighted the historical significance of their contribution. He expressed optimism that the aspirations of the Naga people will eventually be realized. The programme was chaired by Sümi Hoho vice president, Zhevihe Sumi.

Speeches were delivered by Sümi Hoho president, Nikheto Jimomi; Sümi Kükami Hoho president, Kashito Yepthomi; Sümi Totimi Hoho general secretary, Viholi Zhimomi and Sümi Kiphimi Küqhakulu, president, Ngukato Aye. Tsavipelimi and Elli Zhimomi presented special songs.


Earlier, the invocation and benediction prayers were offered by pastor Union Baptist Church Satakha, Rev. Honito Chophi and pastor Satakha Town Baptist Church, Anato Chishi respectively. Senior pastor of Satakha Town Baptist Church, Rev. Hukugha Zhimomi prayed for the martyrs.
