Sunbird Trust distributes scholarship to students of Eastern Nagaland

DIMAPUR

Sunbird Trust concluded a scholarship distribution drive, reaching 1,000 students across 26 government schools in Eastern Nagaland between November 12 and 15, 2025. Each student received Rs 1,200 under the initiative, which was supported by a major corporate donor and implemented in collaboration with the Investment & Development Authority of Nagaland (IDAN) and Eleutheros Christian Society (ECS).
According to Sunbird Trust, the drive focused on ensuring that financial assistance reached students in the remotest villages of Eastern Nagaland. IDAN and ECS played a key role in identifying beneficiary schools and facilitating smooth execution. A six-member team from Sunbird Trust, accompanied by IDAN officials, travelled across difficult terrains to personally hand over the scholarship amounts to parents.
A parent from Tangnyu village in Mon district, whose daughter studies in Class 5, expressed gratitude: “We have not received any scholarship before, so this means a lot to us.”
Speaking on the initiative, Sunbird Trust CEO Aliasgar Huseini Janjali stated, “With sponsorships such as these, Sunbird Trust is ensuring that students from the remotest parts of our country get a fighting chance to achieve their dreams and an opportunity to create a pathway full of possibilities.”
Established in 2014, Sunbird Trust is a non-religious and apolitical not-for-profit organisation working in remote and conflict-affected areas of North East India. With the motto “Peace through Education,” the Trust supports access to education through infrastructure development, sponsorships, and community engagement in livelihood and peace-building initiatives.
