In connection with the superannuation age of medical doctors in the state, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has demanded that the state government maintain status quo until a comprehensive review of the existing superannuation policy governing the state government employees was carried out.
NSF vice-president Atokiho Sumi informed that the resolution to this effect was adopted at an emergency presidential council meeting held on April 11, at NSF office.
The house also resolved to pressure the state government for creation of more posts in the medical department and requisition the existing vacancies in the department to NPSC for immediate recruitment.
Father, expressing dismay over the “sluggish progress” of the ongoing works at the two upcoming medical colleges in the state, the house resolved to demand the state government to make the two institutions functional at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the house also resolved to ensure effective implementation of the ‘bond agreement’ signed by the students for availing the seat under state quota. The house noted that agreement to serve the state and its people for a specific period of time post their studies should be strictly enforced by the authorities concerned.
It may be mentioned that the Nagaland In-service Doctors Association (NIDA), backed by its units, is set to go ahead with the three-day mass casual leave (April 18 to 20) to protest against the government’s failure to resolve the issue of superannuation till date.
The chief secretary’s purported assurance to resolve the matter within a period not exceeding one year is about to expire on April 17, 2022.
