DIMAPUR

Lok Sabha MP S. Supongmeren Jamir, who is also the president of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC), held a crucial meeting with Kohima’s Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, and Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil) Jakhama to assess the ongoing recovery efforts in the landslide-affected Phesama village under Kohima district on June 9.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner briefed the MP on the prompt actions taken in coordination with the Village Council of Phesama and affected landowners to expedite road clearance and restoration.
Expressing concern over the disruption to commuters, Supongmeren stressed the need for urgent action to reopen the affected routes.
The discussion also focused on challenges surrounding the bypass road linking Packages 1 to 4. Officials assured that serious efforts were underway to resolve the issues by engaging landowners, contractors, and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL).
Acknowledging the administration’s efforts, Supongmeren called for collaborative, time-bound measures to restore road connectivity at the earliest, emphasizing its importance for public and regional transport.
