Supplementary charge sheet filed against 10 govt officials

National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday filed supplementary charge sheet in Special NIA Court, Dimapur against ten Nagaland government employees under section 39 and 40 of Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967.
The ten accused government employees were arrested by NIA on different dates in 2017 and 2018, in connection with NIA Case No. RC-01/2016/NIA/GUW.
In a press release, NIA said the accused government officials helped NSCN (K) in raising funds out of government resources.  The agency said investigation has clearly established involvement of the ten accused government officials in the crime.
The ten Nagaland state government employees include joint director/DDO, Land Resources; UDA/cashier of Land Resources, joint director/DDO of Social Welfare, addl. director, attached to directorate of Agriculture; executive engineer, of Irrigation & Flood Control; Superintendent of Fisheries, retired director of Tourism, director of Agriculture, Divisional Accounts Officer of Urban Development and executive engineer of Rural Development.
NIA stated that the case was registered on the charges of large-scale extortions and unlawful tax collections by various terrorist organizations/gangs. 
According to the agency, extortion drive was “carried out under the direction of self-styled Brigadier of NSCN (K), Issac Sumi.” 
It stated that first charge sheet against three cadres of NSCN (K) had already been filed on January 25, 2017.
