DIMAPUR, JUN 12 (NPN): Local stone material suppliers from the Ralan and Yanhmon areas under Wokha district have submitted a representation to the conservator of forests, southern territorial circle, Kohima, through the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), Wokha Forest Division, seeking intervention over the suspension of road permissions in the Golaghat sector.
According to sources, the representation was submitted on June 10 following growing concerns over the impact of the suspension on transportation and livelihood activities in the bordering areas.
The suppliers stated that the restriction has brought the movement of vehicles to a halt, affecting the transportation and supply of stone materials and disrupting the livelihoods of many workers and families dependent on the sector.
In the representation, the suppliers reportedly appealed to the Forest Department and other concerned authorities to intervene at the earliest and resolve the issue without further delay.
They maintained that prolonged restrictions could lead to further hardships for local residents and workers who rely heavily on the stone material business for their sustenance.
The suppliers also emphasized that the matter requires urgent attention in view of the practical difficulties being faced on the ground. They expressed hope that the concerned departments would take necessary steps to restore normalcy and ensure that genuine local stakeholders are not adversely affected.
The local suppliers meanwhile urged the authorities to consider the welfare of the affected communities and take a balanced approach in addressing the issue, noting that many households in the Ralan and Yanmhon areas are directly or indirectly dependent on the sector for their livelihood.
