A two-day surgical camp under the Chief Minister’s Mobile Operation Theatre (CM-MOT) program was carried out on February 22 and 23, 2025 at District Hospital, Phek.
The CM-MOT has been launched to deliver advanced surgical and healthcare services to the rural and remote areas of the state.
The surgical team led by Dr.Tseilhoutuo Rhutso MLA along with Dr. Kenei, Dr.Moa, Dr.Rovino, three OT nurses, two OT technicians assisted by the surgeons, anaesthetist OT staffs of District Hospital operated 30 major surgeries all by keyhole/laparoscopic procedures.
Most cases were gall bladder stones, kidney stones,uterus tumor,paediatric hernia cases etc. Earlier, a short inaugural program was conducted at Dr.Wethselo T.Mero Memorial Hall, DH Phek attended by Deputy Commissioner Tsulise Sangtam, Col. Iqbaljit Singh Bhillon 39 Assam Rifle Phek Town, town council members, staff from DH & CMO office.
At the inaugural programme, Dr.Tseilhoutuo Rhutso shared that the main purpose of CM-MOT, which was to provide high-quality healthcare services to the underprivileged communities by visiting all the districts and deliver life-saving interventions to all the far-flung/remote areas.
Deputy Commissioner John Tsulise Sangtam in his keynote address said that Phek district was fortunate to have CM-MOT surgical team led by Dr.Tseilhoutuo Rhutso to reach out to the poorest community. The camp has benefitted the poor rural people who could not undergo timely operation due to financial constraints.
