
10th Sürümi Award Trust (SAT) presentation ceremony was held on December 29 at Nagaland Christian Revival Church (NCRC) with trustee, Shetoyi Yeptho as the guest speaker while chairman, Zunheboto Sürümi community & trustee, Y. Katovi Awomi exhorted the gathering.
A press release by SAT secretary, Hotoshe Sema stated that in his keynote address, SAT chairman, Hokuto Jakhalu appreciated retired chief secretary, Alemtemshi Jamir for authoring the trust and lauded the trustees for their generosity in upholding the cause for encouraging students of Sürümi village which could clearly be seen with the improved performances of Sürümi students in the class 10 examination.
2020 SAT Akighiche Saxu awardees in rural category were Touki H. Sumi, Mount View School, Sürühuto, rural (Sürühuto area) Akukugha Sumi, Mount View School, Sürühuto; general (NBSE) Anitoli Aye, St. John Hr. Sec. school, Dimapur, while SAT-PGLAAMC award for subject topper in Sümi (MIL) amongst Sürühuto area students was bagged by Kilikali Aye, Mount View School, Sürühuto. ‘Akighiche Saxu’ which carries a citation and cash award of Rs. 10,000 was enhanced to Rs. 20,000 in commemoration of its 10th anniversary.
SAT Akighiche Shepe (certificate of excellence) was awarded to three candidates from the village that secured admission to various professional degree courses in 2020; Likivi I. Awomi, MBBS; Lydia Achumi BE (Civil); Hukavi Achumi B. Tech Civil.
Two gold medallists; Vikali H. Jakhalu, in M.Sc. (chemistry) under NU and Katoni G. Sümi in MA (political science) under ICFAI University, Nagaland were also felicitated during the ceremony and awarded special Akighiche Shepe.
Earlier, the ceremony was chaired by Hokuto Jakhalu and Hotoshe Sema, Pastor Peka Zhimo pronounced invocation, choral by church leaders, special prayer for awardees by Pastor Hekuto Ayemi and benediction by women Pastor Akatoli Achumi.
Meanwhile, to facilitate the growth of the trust, eleven trustees from Sürümi village were also inducted into SAT.
