Survey findings at Naga Shopping Arcade startles SN

Survival Nagaland (SN) movement has expressed surprise at some of the findings that emerged after its volunteers had gone for a cross verification drive at the Naga Shopping Arcade, also known as Super Market Dimapur, February 2.
In a press release, media cell, Survival Nagaland it was found out that most of the shops were allotted in Naga names but were sublet to others who were running various types of business like pharmacies, groceries, essential stores, pan shops, xerox and lamination shops etc. without any trade license or any other residential proofs.
SN stated it also discovered many were in found possession of fake driving licenses (without possessing any knowledge about driving), PAN cards etc, which  were obtained after getting a residential proof certificates from GBs/chairmen around the vicinity for Rs.50.
According to SN, those traders, mostly from Karimganj district of Assam, said they could be easily procured anytime.
With regard to this, SN has warned those printing presses who were allegedly making fake driving licenses and other documents in connivance with some “unscrupulous Nagas” and selling to IBIs.
SN stated it also found out that courtyards of shopping arcade were mostly occupied by those hawkers and vendors without any documents making local vegetable sellers mostly Naga women without any place to sell their goods.
The movement disclosed that names of allottees, sublets and the various types of documents from where they obtained the documents would be published in the media soon to enlighten the Nagas.
Questioning the state medical department how a high number of IBIs obtained certificates to open and run medical stores, SN said it would demand the name lists of license holders around the state in the coming weeks through an RTI.
Meanwhile, SN reminded all responsible that it was not against any community, religion or group but to safeguard “our land and coming generations” and instil work culture and dignity of labour among the Nagas.
