Survival Nagaland condemns rape on minor

Survival Nagaland (SN) has condemned the kidnapping and alleged rape of a non-Naga minor girl as reported by one Hussain Ali, son of Qutub Ali.
In a press statement, SN said that it suspected the accused to be an illegal immigrant. While expressing concern and sympathy over the incident, SN said they were not shocked to hear the news and blamed ourselves for harboring suspected illegal immigrants.
“We have provided them food, shelter and boosted their confidence in ignorance or consciously that they have now the audacity to beat, kidnap or rape anyone they want to”, SN added.
SN suggested the village chairmen and GBs of Lhotavi Village and Khekiho Village under Dhansiripar outpost bring in a strict mechanism to identify all illegal immigrants and disallow them to stay in the villages “if they want their children to have a safe and secured future”.
SN also lamented the manhandling of the accused and expressed regret that the case should have been handed over to the police and dealt with according to the law.
It also proposed to the concerned authorities/individuals that “identities of Abdul Shahid and Hatim Mia also be properly verified while the case for the charges of murder of the accused is taken up”.
