Sakshi Village Council (SVC), Longleng has refuted the news item issued by 44 Assam Rifles Longleng in regard to the arrest of Pongang Phom, resident of Sakshi village on November 20 along with arms and ammunition. SVC in a press note by chairman T. Sangnyei Phom and head GB T. Phungchei Phom has clarified that Pongang Phom was an innocent person and had never been involved in “anti-social activities” and that “he is a mere public who engage in a profession of blacksmith” within the village only. SVC therefore refutes the allegation of 44 Assam Rifles that Pongang was working on behalf of NSCN (K) and termed it as “totally baseless” and “falst allegation” against an innocent person of Sakshi village.
