SVSC reacts to SVC resolution

Reacting to the March 10, 2016 resolutions of Seyochung Village Council (SVC), which was published on March 17, 2016, the Seyochung village Sumi community (SVSC) has sought to clarify, what it described as “events that transpired prior to this undemocratic resolution passed by SVC.”
In a press release, SVSC chairman Hukugha Sumi claimed that on March 2, 2016 the “SVC dismantled a Sumi household and tried to confiscate the said property.” It stated that ADC Seyochung also visited and verified the dismantled site on the same day after it was reported to the district administration by the Sumi community. SVSC said even Eastern Sumi Hoho visited Seyochung village on March 10, 2016 and verified the site.  It lamented that though the matter was reported to the responsible authority no action has been taken till date.
The Seyochung village Sumi community reaffirmed that though they were presently sheltering at Seyochung town owing to prevailing circumstance they have not forfeited their rightful claims on their ancestral property.
Therefore, SVSC has appealed to the district administration to take appropriate action against “the said tyrannical resolution passed by Seyochung Village Council as deem fit under the provision of the law. Failing to act, the SVSC cautioned that they would take own course of action and the administration would be held responsible.
