Seyochung Village Students’ Union (SVSU) visited the Health and Wellness Centre, Seyochung Village, to assess the health services in the area.
According to a press release, the centre handles one delivery per month on average and attends to around 30 patients daily at the Outpatient Department (OPD).
Staff informed that due to shortage of personnel, medicines, and equipment, managing the workload has become difficult.
They also shared that OPD footfall usually ranges between 120 and 160 patients monthly, going up to over 250 during certain seasons. Conducting weekly Village Health and Nutrition Days (VHND) has been challenging due to poor road conditions and long distances.
SVSU president reiterated that healthcare was a basic right and appealed to the government to upgrade the facility to a Primary Health Centre. The Union had earlier submitted a representation to the Principal Director, Department of Health and Family Welfare, on November 12, 2024.
