‘Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu’ campaign launched

DIMAPUR: Public Health Engineering Department (PHED), Rural Division Dimapur has launched the “Swachh Gaon, Surakshit Jalvayu” campaign for village functionaries from June 1 to 5, 2026.
According to DIPR report, on the opening day, sensitisation programmes for Gram Panchayats and Lead Facilitators on the Solid Waste Management (SWM) Rules, 2026 and Supreme Court directives were conducted across Dhansiripar, Kuhuboto, Medziphema and Niuland blocks.
Participants were urged to comply with four-way segregation of waste, avoid single-use plastics, stop burning of garbage, and mobilise communities to ensure cleanliness, proper operation and maintenance of SWM assets in their villages.
Villagers actively participated in the programme, which also included the distribution of tree saplings to commemorate World Environment Day on June 5, 2026.
