Swachh Survekshan Grameen (SSG) – 2018, Orientation program organised by Public Heath Engineering Department, Mon was held on August 10 at Council Hall Mon.
Medoseto Kiso, IEC consultant, while speaking on awareness of SSG – 2018 stated that, the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation (MDWS) had commissioned it through an independent survey agency to develop the ranking of all districts of India on the basis of quantitative and qualitative sanitation (Swachhata) parameters. This ranking will be based on a comprehensive set of parameters including district-level surveys of public places like schools, Anganwadis,church, morung and bazaars.
Medoseto explained that the SSG will survey panchayat and citizen’s perception of Swachhata and their recommendations for improvement of the program.
As part of the Sarvekshan, states and districts will be ranked for their sanitation and cleanliness status where top performing states and districts will be awarded on October 2.
Er. Imnasangba SDO PHE Mon Sub-Division spoke on the procedures and details of toilet installation.
He urged the participants to judiciously utilize whatever the government provides, for the benefit of the villagers.
This awareness campaigned is necessary to eradicate open defecation in the country for every village to be clean and hygienic, he added.
The program was chaired by S. Aochuba Longchar (Sani & Hygn consultant) and vote of thanks was delivered by K.N.Vijayan Pillai, supervisor.
Altogether 190 participants from village councils, WATSAN committee and VDBs members under Mon district attended the awareness campaign.
