Swachhata Hi Seva: Cleanliness drives held across districts

DIMAPUR

In response to the nationwide “Swachhata Hi Seva 2025” campaign under the Swachh Bharat Mission, mass cleanliness drives were conducted across multiple locations in Nagaland, including Pfutsero, Punglwa B village, Phek town, and Medziphema sub-division, reflecting strong civic and institutional commitment to environmental hygiene.
In Pfutsero, the town administration and Pfutsero Town Council (PTC), in coordination with Dr. Neisatuo Mero, MLA of 16 Pfutsero Assembly Constituency, organised a town-wide social work on September 20. Residents, party workers, and local leaders actively participated in the initiative aimed at promoting awareness on cleanliness and healthy living. Dr. Mero, along with the PTC chairman and councilors, also visited the town’s dumping site and common graveyard to discuss measures for proper upkeep and maintenance.
Meanwhile, cadets of Sainik School Punglwa (SSP) carried out a cleanliness drive at Punglwa B village on September 19. The campaign, held as part of the school’s weekly club activities, involved 21 NCC cadets, 28 Eco Club members, and 5 staff members. Cadets engaged with villagers to spread the message of clean surroundings and healthy living, with the school describing the experience as enriching and impactful.
In Phek town, mass social work was conducted on September 20 with participation from government staff and residents. Offices, institutions, commercial areas, garbage-prone spots, and water drains were cleaned as part of the drive to promote a clean and healthy environment.
Similarly, Medziphema sub-division witnessed a successful cleanliness campaign on the same day. Key activities included cleaning waste sites, segregating waste, clearing office premises and public areas, and proper disposal of debris. The drive saw active involvement from Medziphema Town Council (MTC), government departments, and the general public.
The coordinated efforts across these locations underscored the importance of community participation in achieving the goals of Swachhata Hi Seva 2025.
