Swachhta Hi Seva campaigns held in Kuhuboto, Jalukie

An IEC campaign on ongoing Swachhta Hi Seva “Cleanliness is Service” from September 11 to October 2 on the theme, “Plastic Waste Shramdaan was held at Kuhuboto town hall with SDO (C) Kuhuboto, Anoka Assumi as special guest on September 25.

A press release from IEC stated that, in his brief address, Anoka expressed support to the mass movement to ban plastic and said that since total plastic ban has come in force, with strict orders from DMC and Kuhuboto area leaders, defaulters would be penalized with heavy fines. 
He however expressed the need to bring in alternative solutions to replace plastic.
With growing population, he also shared the need for identifying and constructing a dumping site at Kuhuboto town. He administered the pledge to ban plastic to all the participants from 42 villages under the subdivision.
Longchendi , JE, PHED chaired the programme, welcome address was given by Kakugha, vice chairman, Adhoc Town Committee, Kuhuboto and SDO, PHED, Kuhuboto, Er. R. Imtisowa reviewed the Swachh Bharat Mission.
Cloth bags were distributed to all the village functionaries. At the programme was tea served in bamboo mugs, made by locals, as a replacement to single use plastic cups. Vibou Seyie, IEC consultant spoke on the objectives of Swachhta Hi Seva and ill effects of plastic.   Vote of thanks was delivered by Khehoto Swu, chairman, WATSAN, Kuhuboto. Programme was sponsored by WSSO, PHED.
Jalukie Battalion: Jalukie Battalion of Assam Rifles conducted Swachhta Hi Seva campaign on September 23. According to PRO HQ IGAR (N), plantation and cleanliness drive was carried out by troops of Assam Rifles and students of Assam Rifles Public School and Govt Middle School, Inbung. 
The event culminated with a pledge by all participants to keep the environment eco friendly and clean.
