Swasth Nari health camps conducted across districts

As part of the nationwide Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (Healthy Woman, Empowered Family), special health camps were organised across Wokha, Kohima, Kiphire, Tuensang and Mon districts on September 26 and 27, focusing on maternal and child health, non-communicable diseases (NCDs), and community wellness.
WOKHA: In Wokha district, a health camp was held at Englan Primary Health Centre (PHC), where Dr. Mhajan Kikon delivered a health talk on NCD screening and encouraged pregnant women to undergo regular Ante Natal Check-ups. Medical services were provided by Dr. Niya Kath (Dermatologist, District Hospital Wokha), Dr. R. Zechano Ezong (AYUSH), and Dr. Kikon. Beneficiaries received general check-ups, dermatology consultations, immunizations, ANC, blood sugar and BP tests, along with free medicines. IEC materials on NCDs, tuberculosis, malaria and family planning were distributed.
KOHIMA: In Kohima district, Akashvani Kohima, in collaboration with the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, conducted a comprehensive health camp for staff and their families. A team of 26 medical personnel attended to 59 patients, offering consultations and screenings for anaemia, NCDs, TB, HIV and Hepatitis B.
KIPHIRE: In Kiphire district, the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) Unit, in partnership with Atshikeh Trust and Akeda Amulung MMU Unit, organised health camps at Thangthure Village and Good Shepherd High School. Services included 4Ds screening for children, oral cancer screening, haemoglobin testing, hypertension and RBG testing, HIV and NS1 antigen screening, scrub typhus and malaria testing, TT vaccination, and IUD treatment for two women. Health education sessions were conducted on menstrual hygiene, oral health, tobacco cessation, and sanitary pad distribution for adolescent girls and women. The camps witnessed active participation from villagers, students and staff, reinforcing the campaign’s goal of empowering families through accessible and inclusive healthcare.
TUENSANG: The Department of Health & Family Welfare, Tuensang, conducted a Speciality Health Camp under the Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan at Community Health Centre (CHC), Shamator, on September 27. A total of 194 beneficiaries availed medical services. Services included 17 ANC check-ups, 23 malaria screenings, 16 HIV/AIDS tests, 3 each for Hepatitis B and C, 3 scrub typhus screenings, and 24 hypertension checks. Health education sessions focused on menstrual hygiene and anaemia. IEC materials in English and Yimchunger dialect, sanitary napkins, and iron folic tablets were distributed. The camp was led by Dr. Ayangla Saku (DPO CD-1), Dr. Nungsang (Gynaecology), Dr. Chensangba (ENT), along with doctors and nurses of CHC Shamator, Pharmacist from District Warehouse CMO Tuensang, Mobile ICTC (DAPCU), DPMU team, BAC Shamator block and ASHAs.
MON: As part of the ongoing Swasth Nari Sashakt Parivar Abhiyaan (SNSPA), the District Health Society, Mon, organised a series of health camps on September 27 across multiple health facilities including Pessao SC, Ukha SC, Changlang SC, Tuimei SC, Leangnyu SC, Angjangyang SC, Tang PHC and Phomching PHC.
At Angjangyang SC, 53 beneficiaries were recorded, with services including 11 NCD screenings, 7 ANC check-ups, 20 immunizations and 15 malaria screenings. Counselling sessions on menstrual hygiene and adolescent health were also conducted. Tang PHC witnessed the highest turnout with 112 participants. Services included immunization of 64 children, 6 ANC check-ups and 17 malaria screenings. Awareness sessions on menstrual hygiene, family planning and immunization were held, and IEC leaflets in the local dialect were distributed.
Phomching PHC registered 83 beneficiaries, comprising 53 NCD screenings, 5 pediatric consultations and 22 general health check-ups.
Changlang SC, in collaboration with the NVBDCP team, conducted 24 NCD screenings, 19 vaccinations and 18 malaria screenings. Leangnyu SC reported 22 NCD screenings and 7 vaccinations, along with health talks. Ukha SC recorded 44 immunizations and 18 malaria screenings.
The SNSPA campaign, which runs from September 17 to October 2, is being implemented across all health units in the district through two types of camps—Specialist Health Camps offering expert services from gynecologists, pediatricians, physicians, dentists and eye specialists; and Regular Health Camps conducted by local health staff, providing counselling, focused group discussions, disease screenings, immunization drives and ANC services.
