Secheku Women Block Level Federation (SWBLF), promoted by the Nagaland State Rural Livelihoods Mission (NSRLM), held its first annual general meeting on May 24, 2025, at Town Hall in Chizami. The event was graced by Er. Mechietsho Koza, Extra Assistant Commissioner of Phek, as the guest speaker.
Around 400 members from various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) attended the meeting, along with village leaders from Chizami block.
The session was chaired by Muchilu Lea, with blessings invoked by pastor Menuo Domeh of CTBC. Metevi Lea, the federation’s president, emphasized the organization’s mission, while Neikurayi Curhah, BPM of NSRLM Chizami, highlighted the growth of the initiative, which now includes 260 SHGs, 23 Village Level Organizations (VLOs), and 6 Producer Groups.
In his address, the guest speaker urged women to embrace innovation and take advantage of government schemes. He outlined opportunities for income generation in sectors such as organic agriculture, handloom, handicrafts, experiential tourism, catering, and food processing. He also stressed the importance of unity and peace for community development.
Assistant District Program Manager, Zhalie Puro, described the meeting as more than a gathering and called it a movement for empowerment and transformation. Success stories from DDUGKY and SHGs highlighted how NSRLM support has helped individuals improve their financial and personal well-being.
The event also featured indigenous song performances by groups from Tewo VLO, Mesulumi, and Sakraba. Awards were presented to outstanding contributors, including Zhochu VLO (Best VLO), Lunikro SHG (Best SHG), and other distinguished members in various categories.
The meeting ended with a vote of thanks from Cutolu Vadeo, followed by a benediction from Kuvili, reinforcing the commitment to progress and community growth.
