Symposium on ‘Christian and mental health’

A symposium on “Christian and mental health” for senior youth of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Minister’s Hill, Kohima (CBCMHK) was held at Mt Sinai Higher Secondary School chapel, Kohima, on June 10. The main speaker was clinical psychologist Themmungla Raman Longkumer. In a press release, CBCMHK media & publicity committee informed that at the programme, Longkumer said if a person wanted their life changed, they should first change their mind. Longkumer, who previously worked at State Mental Health Institute for said many think mental health was equal to mental illness which she said was the “biggest stigma”. She stressed on the need to recognise the difference between mental health and mental illness, and said that a collective understanding of mental health was required.
