KOHIMA, JUL 25 (NPN): Tsiituonuomia Khel (T.Khel), Kohima Village organised its 9th Literary Day cum Felicitation Programme on Saturday at the T.Khel Indoor Stadium under the theme “Imprints of Imagination.”
Addressing the valedictory session, Dr. Tseilhoutuo (Ato), MLA of 9th Kohima Town, shared his personal journey and struggles while growing up, recalling part time jobs as a bus conductor and newspaper vendor. He stressed that dedication and commitment are essential for success, encouraging students to cultivate curiosity and genuine interest in their studies. Referring to rapid advances in technology and artificial intelligence (AI), he cautioned against misuse such as spreading fake news and urged proper use of technology. He further advised perseverance, kindness and extending help to those in need.
In the inaugural address, Er. Sedevilie Suohu, Executive Engineer PHED, highlighted the importance of respecting and obeying parents, noting their sacrifices and guidance. Blessings were pronounced by Rev. Kevimese Suhu, pastor Nagabazar Baptist Church, and Rev. Atuo Whuorie, pastor Baptist Mission Church.
The presidential address was delivered by Mezhükhriezo Zatsu, president TSU, while Vilhou Sekhose, vice president TSU, delivered the welcome address. In his short address, Zakie Suohu of T.Khel Council commended students for their achievements, describing children as their parents’ greatest treasure. He encouraged students to pursue education diligently, develop professional skills, and strive for self employment or meaningful careers, while honouring God and respecting elders.
Special performances were presented by Ledilhounuo Sekhose and cultural troupes. The vote of thanks was proposed by Keneipthelie Phewhuo, General Secretary TSU.
As part of the Literary Day, competitions were held in essay writing, painting, elocution, solo singing, spelling bee, creative writing, debate, instrumental solo, extempore and quiz. Winners will represent T.Khel at Kohima Village’s flagship literary event “Spero Meliora” scheduled for August 8.
