Tuli Area Joint Council Forum (TAJCF) has decided to temporarily suspend the indefinite road blockade (Mokokchung to Mariani) following the assurance made by the chief minister that the Tuli paper mill revival issue had been take up with the Prime Minister.
In a press note TAJCF president O. Benjung Jamir and secretary M. Mar Lemtur informed that the council held a joint meeting with the DC and SP Mokokchung wherein the DC “produced a letter from the chief minister written to the Prime Minister” requesting the latter to take early action for revival of the NPPCL.
TAJCF said another letter was received from the commissioner & secretary Industries and Commerce, urging TAJCF “to suspend the agitation for a few days, to see the action taken from PM level”.
In this regard, the Tuli Area Joint Council Forum stated that the forum agreed to suspend the proposed agitation for a “short period”.
The forum however appealed to the state government to take the matter seriously, stating that the suspension was not permanent.
